Remarks: this is a small part of the article. The original japanese identify “nafadii chuko no so, kengo higaonna kanryo” (= kanryo higaonna, the karate expert, who revived naha-te or naha style karate) the article appeared in the month-to-month magazine “aoi umi” february 1978 issue (no.70) posted with the aid of aoi umi shuppansha (page 113).
One night time whilst kanryo higaonna changed into about 50 years antique, he loved drinking sake at the bar in tsuji, naha, okinawa. Whilst he changed into about to go back home, the owner of the bar ordered a servant to go together with kanryo with a lantern. Streets in tsuji had been very dark and perilous especially late at night.
When Kanryo and the servant got here to Maeno Momichi road from Kushimichi avenue, two or 3 young guys stood in their manner. They seemed to whisper every other. Unexpectedly they stopped whispering. As quickly because the massive guy shouted “you should be Higaonna, the karate professional!”, he kicked the lantern and punched kanryo inside the stomach. Kanryo stepped again and hit the wrist bone of the large guy along with his proper forearm at lightning velocity. The big young man groaned and ran away with the other men into the theater in hatamichi.
The name of the big man who ambushed kanryo higaonna is kanta sakuma. They are saying that he become as sturdy as motobu saaru (= choki motobu), who was said to be the strongest avenue fighter returned then. He ran away due to the fact he had a severe pain in his arm hit through kanryo.
I heard the above story immediately from mr. Iha a.Okay.A. Aji tanme who resided in tomari village. He was a pacesetter of the theatrical corporation returned then.
